True Poem
She was walking across the office,
Twenty-eight years ago.
I was really impressed with that yellow dress,
And, she was walking kinda slow.
Then I found out she was married,
So, I let that notion go.
Then, a sad and wonderful thing I heard.
She was getting divorced. That was the word.
Now, it's twenty-five years we're married.
And, I mean to let you know,
I'm glad I was in the office,
My old dog... Bought her, But, she owned me. Lady Kaibab Cody.
Didn't have to call her, please. Just rattle the old pickup's keys. "Cody, wanna gopheride?"
Cody, always by my side. Cody, in my arms she died. Lady Kaibab Cody.
